Adventure Park Valley Fontdouce
A great park, walk high above the ground through centuries old trees, and finish with an exhilarating slide down the zip wire, followed by a picnic in the fields
Cognac
The distilleries in Cognac have tours, often with a boat trip as well. Cognac also has an annual jazz festival.

Saintes and Saintonge
Saintonge and its capital Saintes is steeped in history, with many Roman sites, and a small museum by the tourist office. A boat trip up the Charente is a must
Paléosite - St Césaire
Interesting history of Neanderthal man, whose remains were found here in 1972. Well set out and plenty of things for the family to do, including spear throwing
Pisciculture - St Césaire
Go and catch your own trout, then cook and eat it at their restaurant. Sit round the large lake in lovely surroundings
Charente river
This winds through Poitou-Charente to flow into the Atlantic near Rochefort. Enjoy river activities, or picnic at Dompierre, and see the only chain ferry in France
